TIP OF THE DAY - THURSDAY

SOME TINY LITTLE TIPS TO THINK ABOUT THAT MIGHT NOT BE THAT TINY?

What's your top tip?

•"I brush my teeth when I get cravings. I love the fresh, minty feeling, and it fools my sweet tooth. I don't even mind the stares in the office bathroom."

•"I imagine a particular food super-glued to my rear, hips or stomach. It isn't so hard to resist when I realize where it's going after it leaves my taste buds."

•"I keep lots of healthy snacks in my car and my desk. If I get really hungry, I will grab at anything, so this works well for me."

•"Try new things. I discovered this weekend that I actually like raw spinach. I'm willing to try almost anything to keep my diet interesting and healthy."

•"I list all the reasons I want to lose weight and put them in random places around the house, along with older, thinner pictures of myself."

•"Wear tight clothing. I wear tight jeans so that I stop eating when I feel 'fat.' It works for me!"

•"Go to the grocery store every week and stock up on healthy foods. If you're well-prepared, it's easier to have a successful week."

•"Set small goals and reward yourself with fun stuff. When I reach 10 percent, I'm going to get a massage."

•"Only eat the reduced-fat foods that really taste good to you."

•"I don't put anything in my mouth unless I write it down and hold myself accountable for it."

•"Don't deprive yourself. It usually leads to eating lots of substitutions that won't satisfy you, and you'll end up having the chocolate, anyway."

•"My favorite tip? I look at myself in the mirror. I like where I'm headed, but I'm not there yet."

I found these online and thought they were kind of cool. Some of them anyway. Read and enjoy and use as you can.

TIP OF THE DAY - WEDNESDAY

BEST DIET TIP #15: Be physically active.
Although it may seem counterintuitive, don't use exercise either to punish yourself for eating or to "earn" the right to eat more.

"When you do, it sets up a negative thought pattern, which is why so many people say they hate to exercise," says May.

Instead, focus on how great you feel, how much better you sleep and how much more energy you have when you exercise. Physical activity is good for you whether you are trying to lose weight or not, so keep it positive and build a lifelong habit.

This is the last tip in this series. This is just as good as the first 14 tips. I know I have told myself it is okay to cheat tonight because I exercised extra long this morning. Not true. Be careful. Since that accident I have hurt all over and did not exercise at all yesterday. This morning still hurting, I did do a toned down exercise program for less time too, but I really did feel better at least mentally after trying.

TIP OF THE DAY - TUESDAY

BEST DIET TIP #14: Use non-food alternatives to cope with stress.
Sooner or later, you're going to be faced with a stressful situation. Instead of turning to food for comfort, be prepared with some non-food tactics that work for you.

Sass suggests reading a few chapters in a novel, listening to music, writing in a journal, practicing meditative deep breathing, or looking at a photo album of loved ones.

I had never thought of this. Great tip. I wish I had looked at this first thing this morning. With all the stuff I had to do today I just munched all day between trips to auto repair shops, DMV, police station, insurance office then taping interviews with two insurance adjusters. I ate out both Saturday and Sunday too so tomorrow since I will have little ones I am going to get things ready to do when I want to munch. I am teaching in July so I can start working on that lesson. Anything to stay out of the kitchen.

TIP OF THE DAY - MONDAY

WELL HOW DID YOU DO? Did you have a great Mother's Day weekend? Were you able to relax? Did you have some special foods? I hope you all had a great weekend. As for me...well let's just say it was sure different. Now back to the business of losing weight. It does not matter what you ate or how much you ate. The weekend is over, Mother's day is over and it is time to get back on track. Let's forget about what has been done, we really can't change that so let's just watch what we eat and work hard on which ever diet and exercise program we have chosen for our self and feel good about our self. We can do this. Have a great week.

TIP OF THE DAY - SUNDAY HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

ENJOY YOUR DAY... It does not really matter if you ARE A MOTHER OR NOT... You had a mother at one time. Take some time to think about your mother AND mother in law. Think of the lessons she taught you, the time she spent loving and caring for you. Think of the times you might have missed the chance to tell her of your love for her. Think about all those time when you should have said I am sorry or I love you and didn't. Chances are she knew you loved her. So just take a few minutes and say a little prayer to thank the Lord for your mother and for being a mother. ENJOY YOUR DAY BUT be careful with what you eat. It may be a special day but no reason to over eat. You will regret it tomorrow if you do. Oh yes and HAVE A EXTRA SPECIAL AND HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO YOU ALL.

TIP OF THE DAY - SATURDAY

BEST DIET TIP #13: Swap a cup of pasta for a cup of vegetables.
Simply by eating less pasta or bread and more veggies, you could lose a dress or pants size in a year.

"You can save from 100-200 calories if you reduce the portion of starch on your plate and increase the amount of vegetables," says Sass.

I HAVE A REAL WEAKNESS FOR BREAD... If I put weight on I just need to look and what I have been eating and it is almost always breads. Homemade bread is the worst for me. Take a look at what you are eating, being honest with yourself and chances are there are ways you can cut the calories with a little work.

TIP OF THE DAY - FRIDAY

BEST DIET TIP #12: Eat foods in season.
"If you don't love certain fruits or vegetables, it could be because you ate them out of season when they have little taste or flavor," says Pensiero. "When you eat seasonally, fruits and vegetables are more flavorful, at their best, and I promise you won't be disappointed."

At GiGi's Trattoria, her restaurant in Rhinebeck, N.Y., she serves simple fruit desserts, like naturally sweet strawberries topped with aged balsamic vinegar, or low-fat yogurt or fresh berries in a compote.
I was at the store yesterday and noticed lots of strawberries. I am not sure what foods are in season and when. I think you just need to pay attention in the produce section.
